Guin, the film is real, they are shooting right now , there are pics of the shooting, and the film opens on May 15, 2011.

I heard that this time they will have a mermaid in the movie. That's one reason for me to see the movie. I like mermaids (for example Arielle, of course, my favourite Disney cartoon ) and sometimes I'm one myself *dream*... And I like Penélope Cruz. I think she's the right actress to play Jack's love-interest.

Heeia Kea Boat Harbor on the Windward side of Oahu, Hawaii is currently home to the Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeard's ship from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Filming has been taking place at the ship the last week, with Johnny Depp shooting scenes as well as greeting the fans. While we can't show you what's been filming (psst... try YouTube), this photo gives you a good look at the ship. Shooting at the location is expected to continue through next Thurday. "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise --this time in Disney Digital 3D(TM). In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he's not sure if it's love--or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

Rush reprises his role as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa, and Kevin R. McNally returns as Captain Jack's longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs. Claflin stars as a stalwart missionary, while Berges-Frisbey is transformed into a mysterious mermaid.

It appears to me like they modeled many parts of the Queen Anne's Revenge off of the Flying Dutchman... but I doubt it's the same one.

Last I heard they'd docked the FD in the Bahamas at Castaway Cay (Disney's private island). Also, using this photo to compare:



I spot difference such as (the Dutchman) has a second balcony at the back that I don't see on QAR, the fighting tops (balcony-things on the masts) on the Revenge also seem to be at a more even level than the FD's, and lastly, the FD's bowsprit (long pointy part at the very front) curves in from the ship, whereas the QAR's just sticks right out.

Oh, and not to mention... based on the picture we have of the QAR (assuming no one mirrored the picture--why would they?), this next picture certainly doesn't fit.

It looks like they didn't bother to make the new outfit for Sparrow. He probably is a very unfortunate kind of pirate that can't get some new clothes. LOL. (Or, maybe the money would go to pay all Depp's "idols" that he would desire to bring on the set.)
Why would they bother to get another ship? They want to squeeze money out of the audience - not to spend it. BTW, have you seen the pics of Depp and Cruz "in a dance position?" - I wonder if they got rid of the research department totally. Otherwise, they might've found out that this kind of hold in dance position between a man and a woman wasn't used till many-many years later.
