"The Kingdom of Ridley Scott"
(They were talking about Jeremy Irons, whom they interviewed, and how he wasn't working anymore on that day so he'd suggested they go to his trailer to have a quiet interview).

The contrary is the case for Bloom and Scott, star and director. Rest doesn't happen often for them. There is only one moment of repose all day, lunchtime. Bloom enters the dining room, a giant canvas tent whipped by the wind, his face roughened by the sun and the dry air of the desert, the face of someone who has just finished a long and ardous journey. This afternoon he will arrive, for the cameras, at his destination, Jerusalem, and he has the make up for the ocassion.

Scott, Bloom and Irons are three A-list names in this lavish production, but there are more. There is also Liam Neeson, who is not in Ouarzazate, and Eva Green, the 25 year old actress launched to stardom by Bernardo Bertolucci in Dreamers, and who already avoids contact with the journalists as if they were the pest. Or maybe lepra, the sickness suffered by Baldwin IV, the charismatic king of Jerusalem portrayed by Edward Norton, the fifth element in the five-aces hand that Scott has thrown into this particular time tunnel.

With such a line-up and a budget of millions, the new movie by the director of Alien and Blade Runner is destined to be one of the year's sensations. The question is whether Bloom and Green, on whose shoulders rests the weight of the movie, will be able to carry this huge Medieval machinery created by Scott in their first experience as leading actors. The director himself hand-picked Bloom for what will become the first great role of his life.

At 28, Bloom moves like a fish in water around the impressive sets built in the Moroccan desert. "I've worked in LOTR and Troy, I know what this kind of movies are like, everything is big, but I feel lucky to enjoy this opportunity", the British actor admits. "At my age, I love doing what I'm doing, I have all the energy and enthusiasm required".

What is your opinion about Orlando Bloom?

He knows how to hold back (*), even though he's so young. The camera adores him and there is something in his face that captivates the public. It will be fascinating to watch how he deals with the adulation.

(*) I think he means something like "he's very controlled".

this bit reminds me of in movies when they have the light shining from behind the person, lighting up the strands of hair and they play the heroic music and everything lol, very heroic....
